I don’t know of a single toddler who hasn’t gone through a phase of picky eating – even if it is just short phase. Something seems to happen when babies turn into toddlers: stubbornness, independence, the need for control and curiosity all appeare from nowhere. Cooking food together can help to harness this desire for control and turn meals into positive events. My daughter loves being involved in meal preparation. Since I become a mom I less cook complex dishes, most of the time I just need quick and tasty food that all the family will enjoy! This time we made Cheesy Biscuits simple and delicious food – recipe below.
50 g self-raising flour, plus some for dusting
40 g butter
40 g parmesan cheese
10 g (2 tbsp) cheddar cheese
½ tbsp water
*suitable for freezing
*suitable from 12 months
*Prep time 25 minutes
*Cooking 10 minutes
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350ºF/Gas 4
Grate parmesan and cheddar. Take butter out of the fridge at least an hour beforehand, to soften.
Mush the cheese into the butter with a fork. Mix in the self-raising flour. Sprinkle over the water and squeeze the mixture together with hands until you have a ball of dough. Dust the flour all over the table/board and rolling pin to prevent sticking. Roll out the dough to about 4 mm thick.
Cut out the shapes with a cookie cutter and place them on the baking tray.
