INFANTS
‘’THE GREATNESS OF THE HUMAN PERSONALITY BEGINES AT THE HOUR OF BIRTH.’’
DR.MARIA MONTESSORI
Montessori advocated for a natural and free environment for even the youngest of children. They are respected and seen as people with a need for their own space and environment which meets their needs.
Young infants have between 2-3 different toys available at a time and this amount is gradually increased. They include boxes for posting, baskets of small sets of natural materials, rattles and books.
At this age infants are going through the sensitive periods for movement, language and order. By allowing your infant to spend as much of their time as possible unrestricted you are fully supporting the development of their ability to move. Have fun talking to your baby about everything. It is the best way for them to start to pick up on the tone of your voice and repeated sounds. Ensure that their learning materials have permanent home and their routine is constant.
