Art Trays are a very common Montessori units and I’m sure you’ve seen it all over the blogosphere, but it’s something very popular (at the moment) on our shelves and I thought I’d share it anyway.

Introducing your child to different arts & crafts can open up a whole new world of creativity for your little one. Some children are just not into arts and crafts. Be patient and they will find something they are into. You can offer different trays to try: markers, paint, finger paint, crayons, scissors, etc. Art is one of the many ways children express themselves. Art is also a way for children to communicate their feelings. It is through art that children develop their fine motor skills, strengthening muscles in little hands and building dexterity in little fingers.

My daughter is so much (at the moment) into anything that involves pencils, paints, play dough. She spends a good amount of time creating her own ”art” so I’ve put together few art tray ideas to inspire her (and hopefully you).

And that’s it. There’s usually 3-4 of these out at one time, I rotate as Mia loses interest in what’s on the shelves, or if I notice that she is gravitating toward a specific skill.

p.s. Don’t forget to pin this for later 😉
