What we are reading: June

What we are reading: June

Summer is that time of year that we all can feel free and relaxed, no matter our age. Summers are made for family trips, beach/lake visits, late nights, ice cream cones and so many other things that make us feel like a child all over again. Our this month reading list will help you to get ready for summer and get you in a summer mind set.

I’ve done some book rotation, including some books with a summer / seaside / friendship theme.

When rotating books, I usually try to ensure a balance of current favourites and books we haven’t read for a while, reality-based books and books with an element of fantasy, easy books and ones which are a little more challenging (either because they are longer or deal with more complex topics).

Commotion In The Ocean by Giles Andreae (Author), David Wojtowycz (Illustrator)

Summer (Seasons) by Child’s Play (Author), Ailie Busby (Illustrator)

ABC Zoo by Rod Campbell

Rabbit’s Nap (Tales from Acorn Wood) by Julia Donaldson

Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers

A Squash and a Squeeze by Julia Donaldson (Author), Axel Scheffler (Illustrator)

Dinosaurs, Dino Sound Book – What’s for Dinner Today? by North Parade Publishing

I Love Dad with the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (Author)

We have also recently started listening to some audio books together, mostly Bedtime Stories. I would love your recommendations for pre-school age audio books?

That’s a fun idea, to rotate books based on the seasons. I’ve never tried doing audio books with my kids; does your daughter enjoy them?
